    SCIENTIFIC APPROACH OF 2013 CURRICULUM: TEACHERS’ IMPLEMENTATION IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING

    The research is aimed at investigating the teachers’ implementation of scientific approach in English Language Teaching in one state junior high school in Bandung Regency. In addition, this research discusses the conformation of the Scientific Approach implementation and the lesson plans based on the 2013 curriculum. This research employs a case study qualitative research design. The data were obtained from classroom observation and teachers’ lesson plan analysis and interview. The findings showed that the teachers implemented the scientific stages in English Language Teaching. They conducted observing, questioning, experimenting, associating and communicating in the sequence activities. Besides, the teachers can demonstrate the student-centered learning strengthened by collaborative, cooperative, active and meaningful learning. However, concerning the conformation of the implementation with lesson plans, based on the indicators, learning objectives, learning materials, learning media, scientific stages and Scientific Approach model (discovery learning, inquiry leaning, problem based learning and project based learning), the teachers still have to underline and mention the Scientific Approach model and state learning objectives.     Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh data observasi yang menunjukkan perolehan hasil belajar siswa pada materi keterampilan menyimak dongeng pelajaran bahasa Indonesia sangat rendah. Untuk merespon hal itu maka penelitimelakukan penelitian tindakan kelas yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajarsiswa. Tujuan yang hendak dicapai pada penelitian ini antara lain : (1) Mengetahuipelaksanaan model pembelajaran Paired Storytelling dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar pada siswa, (2)Mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dengan model pembelajaran Paired Storytelling pada siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan media Wayang Kartun.      Penelitian ini dilakukan pada kelas 2 SDN Jatibaru dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 22 orang. Penelitian ini mengukur seluruh ranah yang ada pada hasil belajar, yaitu : kognitif (pemahaman), afektif (penerimaan dan respin) dan psikomotor (keterampilan meniru). Hasil penelitian menunjukan peningkatan pada setiap ranah ditiap siklusnya. Dengan model pembelajaran Paired Storytelling siswa mendapatkan pengalaman belajar langsung sehingga pembelajaran lebih menarik dan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Dari data maka direkomendasikan kepada para guru untuk menggunakan model pembelajaran Paired Storytelling dalam materi keterampilan menyimak dongeng pelajaran bahasa Indonesia di SD Jatibaru untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.Â

    IMPACT OF ONLINE LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON LEARNING ACTIVITIES

    This research describes whether the social presence can be obtained from online learning of distance education setting. Data in this study employed questionnaire adapted from Rovai (2002) which identified 3 aspects of social presence, namely connectedness aspect, learning aspect, and socio-emotional aspect. Data was taken from 70 students who participated in an 8-weeks online learning. The results showed that all aspects have positive attitudes from students’ point of views. The students experienced connectedness aspect, learning aspect, and socio-emotional aspect in online learning regardless the learning situation which was mostly text-based setting.     Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pembelajaran berhitung permulaan pada anak kelompok B di RA An Nashiriyah Buduran Sidoarjo yang tidak menarik dan berpusat pada guru sehingga kemampuan berhitung permulaan tidak berkembang dengan baik. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan pembelajaran bervariasi salah satunya pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD bermedia kartu domino modifikasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD bermedia kartu domino modifikasi terhadap kemampuan berhitung permulaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian Pre- Eksperimental Designs dan menggunakan One- Group Pretest- Posttest Designs. Subjek yang diteliti berjumlah 20 anak. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi partisipatif dengan alat penilaian berupa lembar observasi. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan statistic non-parametris uji jenjang bertanda Wilcoxon Matched Pairs Test dengan rumus Thitung< Ttabel, jika Thitung < Ttabel maka H0 ditolak Ha diterima sehingga penelitian ini signifikan adanya pengaruh antara 2 variabel. Hasil perhitungan dengan uji jenjang diperoleh Thitung =0 lebih kecil dari Ttabel dengan taraf signifikan 5%= 52, sehingga (0<52). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat dikatakan bahwa hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak. Hipotesis penelitian yang berbunyi ada pengaruh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD bermedia kartu domino modifikasi terhadap kemampuan berhitung permulaan anak kelompok B RA An Nashiriyah kecamatan Buduran Sidoarjo diterima.Kata kunci: Pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD, Berhitung permulaanAbstractThis research was formed background by counting ability i.e. for group B children in RA An Nashiriyah Buduran Sidoarjo which itsn’t exite and centered on the teacher. Therefore, to develop beginning counting ability to the children required doing by using the exact learning i.e. using cooperative type STAD with domino card modification media. The purpose of this research was to prove whether there was influence of cooperative learning type STAD with domino card modification media toward beginning counting ability.  This research used quantitative method with pre-experimental design and used one group pretest-posttest design. This research used 20 children as the subject. The data collection method used participative observation with scoring instrument in form of observation sheet. The analysis data in this research used statistic non parametric test with sign range Wilcoxon Mathed Pairs Test with the formula of t counted < t table , if t counted < t table then Ho was refused Ha was accepted then this research significantly influence between two variables. The counting result with range test obtained t counted = 0 smaller than t table with the significant level of 5% = 52, then (0<52). Therefore alternate hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was refused.     The teaching-learning process in this school is still run traditionally in which a teacher-centered approach is occured. The teacher explains the subject matter and after that the students are asked to do the exercises. There are no activities that increase students' motivation to increase students' concentration and interest in the lesson.In relation to the problems, a structured and integrated training and mentoring are needed to be done. The skill of creating activities that lasted 2 to 3 minutes aimed at maintaining the concentration and motivation of students is absolutely necessary for the learning process to be effective. In addition, it takes some time for the brain to process new information in it.This program started with training activities to change the mindset and increase teachers' insight into the importance of energizers in learning. In this training, teachers are required to be creative in creating various kinds of fun activities on the sidelines of learning. Populasi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah ibu yang memiliki balita di kelurahan Notoprajan dan pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner tertutup dan menggunakan uji analisis univariat. Uji validitas menggunakan korelasi product moment dan uji reliabilitas dengan alfa cronbach.     This activity is based on the fact that there is a Village of Tidar University that is Balesari Village, Windusari District. This village is a village with a large population growth but inversely proportional to the level of qualification possessed by the population.Recognizing the importance of a balance between worldly and religious education, this community-focused program focuses on mentoring that focuses on the English learning, with a particular approach, through educational games based on local wisdom. This is very beneficial because this mentoring besides will make TPQ participants gain knowledge of religion, they will also get input in the form of educative game which still bring the elements of local wisdom so that at one time they can learn, play, and preserve local wisdom.This active learning focuses on: 1) What are the different forms of educative games based on local wisdom used, 2) How is the use of educational games based on local wisdom to develop the creativity of TPQ participants, 3) What are the factors that hinder the creative development of TPQ participants through the use of educational games. The implications of this program mean that in the future this mentoring program can be expanded its scope. Output of the mentoring program is an active learning model through educational games based on local wisdom for TPQ participants

    HEDDA’S EGO DEFENSE MECHANISMS AS A RESPONSE TO HER PSYCHOLOGICAL CONFLICTS IN IBSEN’S HEDDA GABLER

    The objectives of the research are to identify and explain the defense mechanisms experienced by Hedda based on Freud’s psychoanalysis theory, and to identify and explain the motives and types of psychological conflict experienced by Hedda based on the theory of psychological conflict promoted by Atkinson et al. This research is a qualitative content analysis study. The subject of this research is a play entitled Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. The data were some phrases, clauses, sentences, and expressions related to the description of defense mechanisms and psychological conflicts. The key instrument of this research was the researcher herself with the concept of defense mechanisms drawn from Freud’s psychoanalysis theory and psychological conflicts drawn from psychological conflict theories promoted by Atkinson et al., all illustrated in the analytical construct. The researcher collected the data using read-write technique. The data analysis was conducted through organizing, preparing the data, reading through all the data, coding the data, giving a description, interrelating description, and interpreting the meaning of the description. To obtain trustworthiness, the researcher used triangulation technique. There are three results of the research. The first result is the description of classified defense mechanisms experienced by Hedda i.e. repression, denial, displacement, projection, reaction formation, fixation regression, and fantasy. Such mechanisms are experienced by Hedda in order to deal with reality and release her anxiety; they are the response to her psychological conflicts. The second result of the research describes the four pairs of motives representing Hedda’s psychological conflicts namely independence versus dependence motive, intimacy versus isolation motive, cooperation versus competition motive, and impulse expression versus moral standards motive. Most of conflicts between motives fall into three categories i.e. approach – approach conflict, approach – avoidance conflict, and approach – avoidance conflict; this is the third result of the research.     VERBA RESIPROKAL BAHASA JAWA PADA MAJALAH DJAKA LODANG TAHUN 2011

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pembentukan verba resiprokal pada majalah Djaka Lodang tahun 2011. Pembentukan verba resiprokal, meliputi bentuk verba resiprokal, jenis verba resiprokal, dan makna verba resiprokal bahasa Jawa pada majalah Djaka Lodang tahun 2011. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif, yaitu menampilkan butirbutir kata-kata yang termasuk kata verba resiprokal bahasa Jawa pada majalah Djaka Lodang tahun 2011. Sumber data penelitian ini majalah Djaka Lodang edisi nomer 31 tanggal 1 Januari 2011 sampai edisi nomer 48 tanggal 30 April 2011. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada permasalahan proses pembentukan verba resiprokal bahasa Jawa yang dikaji secara morfologi. Data diperoleh dengan teknik membaca dan mencatat. Data dianalisis dengan teknik analisis deskriptif. Keabsahan data melalui validitas (validitas data, intrarater, dan interrater) dan reliabilitas (relialibilitas stabilitas). Hasil penelitian terkait dengan: (1) bentuk verba resiprokal bahasa Jawa, (2) jenis kata verba resiprokal bahasa Jawa, dan (3) makna kata verba resiprokal bahasa Jawa. Bentuk verba resiprokal bahasa Jawa pada majalah Djaka Lodang tahun 2011 terdiri dari bentuk dasar, bentuk jadian dengan proses sufiksasi, bentuk reduplikasi dengan proses reduplikasi/perulangan afiks, dan bentuk gabung dengan penggabungan dua bentuk dasar yang salah satu di antaranya sudah menyarankan makna resiprokal. Jenis verba resiprokal bahasa Jawa pada majalah Djaka Lodang tahun 2011 terdiri dari tiga jenis, yaitu verba aktif intransitif, verba aktif transitif, dan verba pasif. Pada verba resiprokal bentuk turunan terjadi perubahan jenis kata yang diturunkan dari jenis kata asal. Makna kata verba resiprokal pada majalah Djaka Lodang tahun 2011 ditemukan tiga makna kata, yaitu makna tindakan, makna proses, dan makna keadaan.
